I captured video from my camcorder, then taped over the original MiniDV tape. I now realize that I want to keep the originals as an archive and would like to send these video files back to a tape, as avi files. Any ideas how to do this?

I attempted to do this in Windows Movie maker, but I assume they were sent as MPEGs as there is a significant loss of quality.

Check that the file is AVI type before you send back to the camera. Win mm has a nasty habit of capturing WMV unless you tell it to use DV AVI.
