VideoStudio 9

I don't seem to be using the full editing screen, there's a black boarder around the clips.
What do I have to do (or when) to use the the whole area?
Ulead 9 using Sony Mini DV digital Handycam TRV33E
Fairly new to this.

It's OK lads I've think I've got the answer: If I untick the 16:9 box on the opening screen before capturing the full screen is used.
