Thread: Video conversion question

Ok, primarily im looking to convert mpg-1 to mpg-2.. I use Tmpgenc now, but is there something out there that is faster and does as good of a job? Thanks

Not for the same money. The only way you'll really speed it up is by hardware upgrades.

I want to convert the files to I can put them on DVD instead of making VCD's out of them. This is just an amazingly slow process. With Tmpgenc a full movie takes a few hours to convert them over. I was just hoping that there was something out there I was not aware of that would be a little more time efficient.

mpeg-1 is part of the dvd spec. you just need to reencode the audio.
