Default How to strip audio from an .avi and add new audio?

What software do I need to do this? Preferably free (if it exists) but at the least extremely easy to use. I have a short AVI I took on a small canon digital camera and the audio on it sucks. I want to strip it off on and put on music from an mp3 or something.

Thanks.

Quick but may not be the best way:

First convert your mp3 to wav... then

1) Download VirtualDub

2) File > Open > Select your video

3) Video > Direct Stream Copy

4) Audio > WAV Audio > Select your WAV file

5) File > Save as AVI

Wow thanks. That's perfect. Very easy.

Does the wav file have to match the video in length or it will it automatically cut off the excess?

If it won't do you know a program to trim the wav file?

Thanks!

To be honest, no idea. Typing 'trim wav' into google brings up founsands of wav trimmers, but I pressume that the length will be driven by the lenghth of the video.

This program seems pretty great for a free one.

All of the controls are a little complicated for someone that doesn't know what they're doing though.

Do you know if it's possible to use this to put in some still frames at the begining and end to modify the length of the video?

I was thinking about adding some still photos and some frames with text explaining what's going on. Also this would make it synch with the music a little better.

If this program won't do it do you know what would? Thanks.

I think you need to get into editing for real. Many good editors have free trials and / or avid do a free dv editor I think but not sure how functional it is.

If you have got to grips with v dub most editors will be easy for you to master.
