Default DOS style text in video

Im trying to figure out how to incorporate the "dos" style text into a video....im not even sure what its called to google it, but is the style text where it starts as a cursor, then the text comes up in sequence following the cursor (kinda like your typing in a DOS window) This is always used in military scenes for putting up the date and time in movies, or other things like that. Its usually accompanied with a small beeping sound when each letter appears on the screen...

anyone have any clues, or can maybe point me in the right direction??

Thanks

To be honest, can't you just use your titling software/feature of the editing package to produce that kind of effect (find a font which looks "dos-ish" and perhaps use underline in conjunction with it)? If you have to have the flashing cursor then this maybe slightly more tricky without some specialised titlting software like Graffiti, or compositing package text function, however that will really depend on what your titling software within your editor is capable of.

Regarding the beep per letter, you would sample a beep, and add it to the time line at the relevant points.

What software are you using?

Is this any good

www.bits-uk.com/video/text.wmv

This took about 5 mins to produce using the titler in premiere, but should be easy to reproduce in any title software. The black would be transparent in the timeline and with a bit of time and a typewriter sound effect or a couple of bleeps recorded from a mobile phone could be quite good I think.

If any good let me know.

Yea thats almost exactly what I want. I wasnt sure if there was some feature of premiere pro 2.0 or vegas 6 (the software that I use) that could do that automatically. Ive been using vegas 6 for a while and just picked up the premeire package....im not very good with it yet, and am still learning the software, so its gonna be a process.

ill keep playing around i guess
