Default editing out commercials

hello all. i have a very simple question and i would be grateful for any pointers.

i recorded a movie on my dvd recorder last night with all the adverts. what i would like to do now is create a dvd without adverts.

is there free and simple software i can use for this you can recommend ?

thanks.

Although not free, videoredo was created for this exact purpose:

If it was recorded staight to dvd it probaly is in Mpeg format and rerendering could cause quilty loss. It's best to import directly to your computer in AVI. The edit and render to A dvd compient stream.

Videoredo can split and combine MPEG without re-encoding meaning no loss of quality.

i've tried videoredo but it's not very professional (in my opinion). every time i open a new dvd file the program gets locked and i have to restart my pc. i am equally not very fond of the user interface.

i just want to edit out bits of .vob files and burn them back onto dvd.

i have little experience of messing about with dvd files but i'm no stranger to all sorts of audio editing. i'm surprised it seems to be so much more difficult.

Talking Editing out commercials

I've had great luck editing out commercials & adjusting duration with Windows Movie Maker and then burning to DVD with Roxio Easy Media Creator.
