I found that site when looking for info on the first bbc video recorder. Certainly makes you realise what we have now is totally amazing.

The last few years have seen amazing changes, haven't they? I used to do a lot of two machine editing about 18-20 years ago, using Sony and Panasonic decks. Deeply painful by comparison!

I remember the first video I ever shot, about 1984 when I was at polytechnic (remember them). It was this huge camera and seperate betamax recorder that you hung off your shoulder, weighed a ton.
Only plus was you got loads of attention and interviews were a cinch as only the pros had cameras in them days.
