Yeah. I'm sure I heard it somewhere. And make this one capable of supporting 3.5Kg ok? |
Splutters....less than a hundred quid and you want money off?
Bo**oxing hell!
Anyway, apart from that, 5KG is my target. The blueprints are drawn and I have a meeting tomorrow with engineering company.
Fingers crossed!
Although a Raptor isn't technically a bird of prey, it'll do. i think it sounds aggresive, mean and discountless.

Come on all you folk with a Glidecam. Is 360 degree rotation a critical feature?

Yes and no. No as in you don't need to spin it. But yes as you need to trace people/objects when cirlcing.

But if it rotated maybe 300 degrees, could you achieve the same?

It really needs to have at least a 180 degree turn. However, I would have thought a 360 degree turn is a fundamental design charachteristic of a gimble design. Additionally, you need to avoid any occurunce of an external force. Having a cut of point will act as such an external influence.

Of course it is. 'Raptor' means 'Bird of Prey'. Forget Jurassic park.

Hmm.
Velly Intellesting.
My approach is to have the handgrip directly under the camera. This means the bearing cannot rotate completely. In the current design I can rotate the camera around 300 degrees. Obviously other parts get in the way at either end of that span. Tilt wise, the rig is just as useable as the Glidecam. The other benefit of having the centre of gravity (i.e. the camera) directly over the users wrist is that aching limbs kick in alot slower than they do on the Glidecam.

If it spun 360 degrees, wouldn't the cameraman get in the shot? 300 seems more than adequate. I think the whole design sounds pretty rad and it'll be cool to see how it turns out.
