That's an easy one. To download from your Sony DCR PC9 (a miniDV camera) simply connect via firewire to your Dell. As for the software, take butchers at section 5 of the faq - http://www.videoforums.co.uk/reviews/faq

Oh, and welcome!

Hi, I am Simon. I am relatively new to editing but have always been a fan of using computers for creative purposes. I have recently completed an A-Level Media Studies course of which I really enjoyed the practical element (will post work later). Now I am awaiting my results and grade permitting will either be studying Television and Video Production (or similar) at either UCE or Coventry (West. Midlands, UK). During this holiday time I am wanting to get as much experience as possible before UNI I have worked with WMM, Ulead Video Studio and now am using Ulead Media Studio 7 (The Poor Man’s Premiere) and as soon as I get paid should be upgrading to 8.0. Will Undoubtedly post more soon but just wanted to say hello, and from what I have seen this is a great site.

Hello,

My name is Bob Green

I am a Unix System Adminstrator by profession.

My wife & I are located in Newport News, Virginia about 15 miles SE of Williamsburg. We have 9 grandchildren spread out between GA, FL, & TX.

I'm just getting started with video capture & editing.
I have a whole bunch of family videos hat I want to copy to DVD's.
I have a DVC-150 & am looking for software that works wih it.

Pinnacle Studio works but seems to be pretty unstable, in that the same actions don't always yield the same results.

I joined this forum to learn what works & what doesn't, then to share observations & experiences as I make/have them.

Hi all,

I'm Mac, hailing from Southern California. 43 years old, married, no kids.

I've dabbled in still photography (on and off) for a number of years, starting with film and moving to digital. I previously owned an 8mm video camera, and have done all the typical sloppy home movies complete with shaky footage and lots of unnecessary/gratuitous zooms. I recently bought an entry-level DV cam (Sony DCR-HC32), and have just started getting my feet wet in the world of non-linear editing (have played briefly with MovieMaker, and am on the verge of buying Vegas Movie Studio +DVD Platinum). No aspirations of a career in videography or production, but would like to improve my skills with both the camera and computer to be able to create reasonably presentable video projects of family/friends, vacations, activities, etc. that won't put people to sleep or create spontaneous illness!

This looks like a great forum - I look forward to participating, learning, and passing on whatever I can offer.
