It's competition time next month and I'll once again be toiling behind the scenes writing the rules and making sure everbody's happy and understands what's going on.
Now I know we don't have as many regulars as a few other boards I could mention, but the recent cat-zapping scenes suggest some of you are itching to show off.
Others, however, are more reluctant to throw the preverbial hat in. I would encourage you to submit a video though. And as I won't be entering, I'm happy to lend my support in any way I can - be that filming if you're in the South East, chosing music, yada yada.
Because we're small, attracting a sponsor is hard. I could spend time firing off emails asking for sponsorship, but will it really encourage you guys to enter? Let's put it to the vote!

I really don't care about the prize, but when I took the poll I got my yes and nos mixed up. But, you know, I wouldn't mind an Americanized digital director t-shirt... :P
Either way, I'll submit an entry, regardless of prizes.

No prize required.
For me, any competition is the opportunity to improve one's filmaking. The chance to improve is as good a prize as any.

I don't think a prize is needed - would be nice - but not needed

I'm personally not bothered about the prize, but I think that a prize is needed if i'm being honest - if you can give something tangible away, people will be more inclined to do it.

But how big does the incentive have to be? I offered $100 last time and non-one entered the applicable section!

I don't think a prize should be necessary. As marc's pointed out, a prize was offered before, and interest was thin on the ground.
Offering it can only help, mind.

I agree with the no-need-for-a-prize-view.
What might be nice, though, is to prominently display category winners - say somewhere in the left column, with a thumbnail of their entry.
You did this with the last comp, but not too conspicuously. I reckon the 'honour' of a forum position would promote a feeling of recognition and achievement.
Should also encourage more downloading from casual browsers.

And this contest we should promote like alot. Post it on other websites--- although some people don't like that. We'll see--- and as for the prize? I agree that I'd like an american digital-director T....

I would suggest goodies as prizes rather than cash, T shirts for the winners in each category for example. A hundred bucks is nice but, for this sort of competition, it's more about the taking part rather than earning a bit of dosh.
I'll probably try and enter something, regardless of prizes, just for the fun of it.
