Marc, you mis-typed "my fantasy" and spelt it as "The only logical next step"
Excellent! That's really made me laugh.

One thing I can say about this forum - it will never be serious

Oh HV spike is what initally fires the bulb as said already its around 20,000v once running they operate at around 85v. I wouldnt spend anything until you have had it fixed though - if it is the bulb it will probably be cheaper than the driver that will most probably cost alot of dosh. If it is the bulb you have to then ask was it being driven to hard and perhaps the new bulb will only have a short life too so driver fault - or perhaps they have just been used alot and really are on their way out... this shouldnt happen untill after 2000 hours or so

The car's in dock today and as well as fixing the satt navtheyt are going to sort out the pink light. guy came to pick it up this morning at work.

I gave him the key and told him thast the wing mirrors are retracted - it's got a little button to turn them in when parked. Told him so he wouldn;t get halfway down the road before realising - like I usually do.

Anyway, he walked out to the car and before opening the door, grabbed both mirrors, in turn and straightened them by hand, forcing tehm to turn agaist the little motor inside them. Needless to say i ran out when I saw this and showed himn the little button. Needless to say THAT doesn't work now!!!! They better not try and charge me for THAT work!

It's just not my week. Oh and yesterday I got a rollocking for posting on here during work time too  but I suppose I deserve that! Lucky it's lunchtime right now

And the joke of my car being in dock yesterday is....

The originally had two things to sort out. The satt nav, the pink light but when they picked it up they borke the wing mirrors.

The had it all day, even so far as to deliver it back late (my kids were upset) and the only thing that had actually fixed was the mirrors

The bulb (that's all it is btw) happens to be a special order. and the satt nav is just nasty. It;s the fifth time that it's been in to be sorted. They work on it all day, take it all aport (even had all th seats out to rewire evrything) put it all together atthe end of the day after their diagnostic machines says it's alright and it starts giving the same errors straight away. Apparently, Ford themselves have not see n this before. They now want the car in for a few days so it can all be taken apart completly and sort it once and for all.

Hands up all those who reckon it will come back working - or worse - with a piece left over when it's back together?

Er, why don't they just put a new one in? Surely cheaper for them - labour doesn't come cheap!

My thoughts exactly. Likely as not though, that on any single day it's cheaper for the labour to try and fix it. Plus they just bill Ford forthweir time no doubt so they'll be happy to work on it forever. They're supposed to be contacting me on Monday to sort out the long term stay. I'll suggest it then.
