Default Camera Cranes, and the lack of UK suppliers.

As a newbie here and impressed with the level of advice and help given out, I wondered if anyone knows of any companies producing camera cranes that dont cost a fortune?
The Hague company in Nottm does a small range, but the pictures of the less expensive ones look, shall we say a bit cheap and nasty? The cable system of tilt control doesn`t look to me to be the best solution.
I have toyed with making my own, but if anyone knows of anyone else selling in UK could you let me know?
Thanks in advance
Andy

I'd strongly advise you to phone them up. They are big in the business and probably know somewhere that does - might even be something they don't sell online. If there's one thing I've learned in viditing, it's to never buy specialist equipment online.

Thank you, I will try that. Someone has suggested using the local college and ask them to build it as a project, but I suspect it will be weeks until completed.

Yes, I had looked at those, but the lower end of the range ones with the cable pulley system seems like it could be fraught with slippage problems. Ebay has suppliers in the US that prodeuce cranes at half the price of Hagues, and look better quality too, but shipping is more than the price of the crane itself.

Out with the hacksaw and anglegrinder then.....

I once bought a suction mount for a car at the Hague site. The service was good and they seem to be a reliable store. I didn't know from their website but the mount was actually a Manfrotto product, a quality brand in tripods and that stuff. I don't know about the rest though. Not very useful information maybe but I felt like sharing

Reindert.
