A Very Bad Start...

Got woken up early this morning. Our 14 year old cat was moaning and making strange noises. Poor thing was clearly struggling. Off to the vet we go... Seems he had a stroke in the night :(

He's out of his misery now though bless him.

Off to uni this afternoon with my daughter to see if her GSCE results are good enough to get her into their sixth form college - her results were just shy of those ideally preferred. At least she already has a place at sixth form in school though. I just think the sports based course at the uni would be a better bet.

Here's hoping for some good news this afternoon after a bad start to the day....

Well, she's now torn between the sixth form course at uni or back to school for A-levels. The course at uni is diploma and worth 3 a levels. Difference is though that it's all one suibject and she's not so sure she wants to specialise that much just yet. She's inclined to do four seperate subject A levels at school right now.

At least she has that option.

Far be it for me to give you advice Alan but i so with I had taken 5 years out of school befor uni.

Specialising now won't necessarily restrict her future carrer/educational choices. My daughter did a similar thing - a qualification in animal management. This is accepted as an equivalent to 3 or 4 A levels in further education. The only thing to be aware of is some courses require specifics (eg 3 A levels including Maths or 3 A levels including English).

PS I'm just entering my 31st year out before uni.

Well, back to school it is for sixth form and 4 A-levles. That's the decision.

oh and Mark, I'll always listen to your advice. might just be the voices in my head but it sure sounded like you just suggested I get another beer and who am I to ignore that?
