It's pay day tommorow and I feel the need to blow some money... anyone got any suggestions?
So far my wishlist is:

Also need a decent mic - any suggestions?

Good choice I think - I am going to download the demo and play a little too. If I buy a new toy my wife is going to be awfully upset with you Marc!

The general consensus is that you can't just download AE and 'play a little' to pick it up. You can expect a full three month leanring curve on this tool and that's spending 9-till-5 on it, before you really get to grips with what it is an what it can do.
Still, I expect there are some 'standard jobs' you can pick up quite quickly. I understand the slow-mo is much better then Premiere's for example.
