| |  Request for ae help.
Is there anyone localish to bristol who can start me off on after effects.
I cabn edit well on vegas but everytime I open ae I just go all blank - just need a few hours with someone to get me started.
Anyone?

Not local Mark, sorry. but can offer some guidance for you if you like.
What exactly are you after learning? motion graphics stuff or touching up 'real' footage. Either way, your best investment is the first of the Meyer books. I've recommended them before and will likely do again.

I'll second Alan's comment on the meyer books they are fantastic. another resource that may be of use is Andrew kramers videocopilot site he has a getting started section with about 8 videos just going over the basics of AE, they are not very indepth but give enough info to get you going.
And just watching the normal tutorials he has up are very informative too.

Andrew Kramer's tutorials helped me a lot, I just watched them and followed all steps, you just pick something up everytime you watch one and gradually become more skilled at it. Fun to do as well.
Another site I found handy is Alan Shisko: Motion Graphics 'n Such although the tutorials are rather meant for specific tasks, but some great tips in there as well.

Cue grams: Theme to "The Twilight Zone"
A couple of days ago I decided to have a go at AE. Blimey! Talk about difficult to get yer head around. Any tips as to tutorials, idiots' guides and such, all gratefully accepted.

After Effects looks really complicated at first sight, I first tried it some time back, I gave up immediately. But then I tried again and came across some really useful tutorials that got me going.
