| | Get creative, not technical My pet hate is people spouting overly technical explanations on forums for amateurs (this is common occurence on a few editing boards). I don't think I've ever seen it here, and long may it continue!
It confuses beginners and makes the subject seem incomprehensible. Formula One drivers couldn't assemble an engine, so why do editors need to know the ins and outs of a camcorder? I understand that insight educates, but there's a level of knowledge beyond the scope required.
If anyone ever starts tearing their hair out because they don't understand what someone's written about video editing... start reading another article or site. Video editing should be about getting creative, not technical! Sharing videos that other people find entertaining, not discussing the relative merits of [insert name of technical bullshit]. |

| | There's an adage in teaching/instructing and talking:
"If a message isn't understood, it's the fault of the talker, not the listener."
and another one...
"If you can't fill them with facts... baffle 'em with bullshit."
How true... |

| | very true.. i hate it when people a explainging things using all the 'correct' terms - or if they use the correct terms they could at least have the decency to explain what the terms mean!
but at the end of the
day..... laymans is always best! |

| | Might be a good idea to have a glossary on this site of the video/editing technical terms translated into laymans undestandable translations. Would it be possible to have like a Wikipedia page where users here could keep adding to the glossary ? |

| | I was all set to give a VideoForumsWiki a beta roll out, but the software relies on other software newer than the version on the server. Watch this space though, as it's on the cards... |
