0 Videos nominated Video Of the Month(s): 0 | | My DVD Player died - Recommendations for new one?
My DVD player died the other day  It played MPGs from data CDs as well. All very sad. Still, it was only a cheap one.
Anyway, had a look around and I'm thinking about getting a Cambridge Audio DVD53. Anyone got any comments on this machine?
My DVD collection is currently made up of Region 1 and 2 and home produced DVD-Rs.
I'm going to take a couple of disks along and have a look at one tonight if I find time.
Comments please?

I say go to Richer Sounds ( www.richersounds.com), they have PLENTY of multiregion players for very reasonable prices. I say this as a close friend of mine works for the company
That being said, it's well worth checking out!

Greate minds....
I always start with Richersounds (and usually buy from them too) on these occasions. It was on their web site i found the player I'm looking at. Late night opening tonight too (in Reading) so will be up there with some test disks. And I'll see if I can't wangle another free mug for work while I'm up there
I was just hesitant to mention the name because I didn't want the thread to become a "I bought from company xxxx and had all sort of problems" discussion.
Had to 'borrow' the kids DVD player last night to watch 'Kill Bill'. Totally cool movie!

I was so close to getting a chipped Xbox - but then got carried away with my HTPC project and can't really justify the expense now. What frontend you using?

I got the Cambridge Audio DVD55 in the end.
I'll be giving it a good going over in the next few days to see what it's like. I'll be happy to post my findings if anyone's interested enough to hear them.
Cheers.

I've chipped it with an executer 2.3, i'm using the evo-x dash and using xbmc to play my movies etc, except dvds, which i watch with dvdx.
I'm streaming stuff to the xbox with ccxstream.

Heard that XBMC is being ported to the PC? I took a look at a beta version and was very impressed.
