On the pacing issues, I think so much of that depends on the viewer's desire to watch johnny depp. The pacing is a tad uneven here and there, but I bet that was because your source video was different lengths.

All videos are meant for a particular audience. Johnny depp fans won't find it slow or boring at all, but if one does not give a hoot-tootie about mr. depp, then chances are high they will not want to watch the video....but that is ok. a video can not be all things to all people. so my statement is not really a criticism but more of an acknowledgement that different things appeal to different people.

Here is a better explination of what I meant by changes:
At :31 you are on a b&w shot that slowly zooms into his face. The qualities of the B&W changes in the middle of the shot. That was probably how the original shot was.

I also noticed flash frames at these points: :51, 1:43, 2:08, 2:18, 2:50. A flash frame is where you have 1-3 frames of a shot in a sequence of otherwise more normal length shots.

All in all, this is very good for a beginner. Please do not get discouraged. I know my first videos were so bad my teacher laughed at me. Now, 30 years later, I can tell you that some of myvideos STILL suck! but I always have fun.

You certainly do not have to justify your subject matter to me. Johnny D. is extremely popular so no doubt there are a lot of people who like him enough to watch 3 minutes.

I hope none of my "criticisms" sound too harsh. It's always a bit hard to give supportive, yet constructive advice that will help without hurting their feelings. Producing video can be very personal and hearing criticism can hurt. When I was young, I was very sensitive but after surviving the news business and many harsh, asshole bosses who would not hesitate to tell you, "IT SUCKS!" I grew very thick skin. Learn from this old biddy and please never take any criticism from ANYONE personally. You are doing a good job and learning.

Producing video is a wonderfully fun thing. After doing it for 30 years, I am a firm believer that virtually anything is acceptable. There are no rules! Well, there are, but they can be broken successfully. I guess that's why I like video. I never liked rules!

Johnny Depp is extremely popular. The fact that I, a 50 year old boring woman, don't really want to spend 3 minutes staring at him is really irrelevant dear. Plenty of other people will.

Good grief, my favorite channel is the science discovery channel. I am in the minority. But pacing is ALWAYS an issue. Generally speaking, fast is better.

No I actually really appreciate your help and constructive criticism, it's very educational. Especially when most of the comments on my videos on Youtube get

"OH MY GOD JOHNNY DEPP IS SOO000OO HOT LOL!!!"

I finished my secret window video. I think it came out pretty good but not as good as I'd hoped. This video will only make sense if you've seen the movie and a lot of it depends on the lyrics of the song. The video is also a little off sync from what it originally was but by the time I finished it I was so frustrated with Windows Movie Maker that I just exported it without a second thought.

and lastly, there are little editing mistakes here and there but i swear it was the program, not me. I hate to point it out but at almost every scene change there is a little hesitation. :(

Not being familiar with the song or movie I would say that the video did make sense and the sync seemed ok to me.

I noticed the hesitations but they were not too distracting. I have no idea why it would do that???

Really, you still liked it? I'm glad.

It's a great movie based on a Stephen King novel, watch it if you get a chance.

and I'm not sure why it was doing the delays, Windows Movie Maker does a lot of stupid things for reasons unknown. For example if you watch the video you're making from the beginning, it will play fine. However, if you watch it from about the middle, it won't play correctly the song will be a little ahead of the video. Which makes editing it very hard when you go back and watch it only to realize that the scene you wanted at a certain part of the song isn't where it's supposed to be.

extremely frustrating

but i guess that's what comes with using a crappy program. I can't afford to get any real editing programs. I've tried using free ones but they don't offer like...any decent options.

anyway, I should probably shut up now.
