Just wondering if anyone has ideas for watermarking a video to ensure it doesn't get downloaded by a client before they approve it?

I have been working on a project for about 300 hours, that's a fair deal of effort. The video has to be approved by the band. They could easily say no thank you, and download that video from youtube and I would be the mug.

I wouldn't normally believe in doing this kind of thing, but would feel aggrieved if it were to happen. The band have shown certain tendencies for me to think it might!

I had thought of placing my logo onto the approval video, and also to animate it a little, so that it couldn't be reverse engineered, (the band are a little unusual, and it wouldn't be unheard of for them to block out the watermark and still use the video as a performance backdrop).

Is there a simple solution that anyone knows of?

Last week I was playing with the Hitfilm 2 Ultimate compositing engine that came with the Vegas Pro Suite upgrade. In the process of learning the software I replicated two different effects as shown in one of Hitfilm's tutorials. It required a combination of masking and point motion tracking, along with keying and color corrections. After successfully making the visual effects, I wondered what it be like to do a soundtrack for the short scene. I was lucky and located the sound effects and Foley necessary to mix the SFX tracks, and bought what I thought would be the appropriate music track to set the mood. After doing this, I saw the result would make a nice demonstration promo for my Post-Production hobby website. So here is a trailer I made. The first half shows the green-screen shoot of the scene, the second half is the same scene after post production. This exercise proves the truism that the sound track is at least 51% of the movie, IMHO.

Hi, very new to both this forum, and video production. I have created/rendered/produced a score of very amateur videos. Having nether the quality of gear, nor skill to create more than an amateur video, I have made these as a learning device. My ability to better my tools, (hardware, software), is limited greatly by the budget I have to work with. On the other hand, I figure there is little to limit what learning I might afford myself other than my personal drive, and my ability to find the answers that will educate me. I preface the questions I want to ask here with this, because I worry that this may not be the right place for a beginner as green as I to ask for help? If that is the case, I would appreciate an answer to that question, and would greatly appreciate being pointed in the right direction to answer my other very beginner questions. That said, I will waste no more time and get to it. Thank you.

I have gotten a little carried away with my current project. I am trying to make a short compilation, (just under 4 minutes), of both short video clips, and still images. I am trying to build this video composite on/around a prerecorded audio narrative. (A poem I have written as a birthday wish/e-card.)

This is my first attempt to build a slide show, and I knew absolutly nothing about how to do it when I started. The only thing I know beyond that at this point, is, that I am not doing it right. After many hours of adjusting the segments in both position, and duration, the video matches the audio segment for segment pretty well, but the over all result is,,,well, ugly.

I have some ideas of what I am doing wrong, but thought asking those who know what their doing made better sense than trying to fix it by trial and error. For all I know it may be a bad idea to ever mix motion video with stills? It may also be the lack of using transition in places? Or, perhaps it is the lack of consistency of segment length? (I have aimed for 2.5 - 3.5 sec. segments, but because some of the segments have text, I have pushed the duration to 5+ sec.in places.) Or, it may be a combination of all of these things, or something else?

I feel these are stupid questions, or at least the questions of someone who is very stupid about what he is doing, and admittedly I am. As I said at the start, these questions are so basic, this may not be the best place to seek the answers, - I do not want to waste anyone's time, but any help/advice any one might offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I may need a broadcast guru for this, but I want to enter competitions on a site, and these are the requirements of the footage output/quality. It's a lot of double dutch for me, and I fear my Sony NEX VG20 stands no chance of meeting these requirements.

But at least someone may save me a lot of headache trying to figure that out, so if anyone can see where I am a non-starter here, can you please point it out for me?

Hi there,
I make youtube vlogs and short funny skits like channels like Jenna Marbles or nigahiga. My channel is youtube.com/willyoulaugh if you want a look.

I have been doing this for about 2 + years now and have used Windows movie maker the entire time. Ive looked into other free ones but they dont look nice. I am a master of windows movie maker because of its simplicity but Id like to expand into better programs that have special effects or just more features. I spend most of my time just putting together footage and trimming out unnecessary parts which takes forever on movie maker.
My budget: under $100
I want: simplicity. I dont want to spend too much time learning too many features or for it to be too complicated.
System: Windows. Don't have Mac so unfortunately iMovie is out of the question :( [It looked kind of complicated and different from movie maker. Spent about 20 minutes trying to figure it out at the library but couldn't despite people saying it was simple ]
