The situation is this: I made a few VCDs recently with Nero Express 6 (using the Videos/Pictures option). These VCDs worked fine on a VCD player but they when they were played using Windows Media Player a message saying "The source filter for this file could not be loaded." was given by it. Am I missing the necessary system files to play the discs or is it Nero?

The video file on a VCD should be named something like AVSEQ***.DAT. Are you trying to play this?

Is this a VCD or SVCD? SVCD uses MPEG2 encoding which isn't part of the Windows release.

That's what I used to like about WinOnCD: when you burned a (S)VCD it would automatically install a software player (Roxio VideoCD player) on your authored disc so you wouldn't have to worry. That was years ago. Nero still doesn't have that feature. :evil:
