DVD, SVCD and VCD authoringWant to produce video to be played in a stand alone DVD player? Post here for any queries relating to DVD and (S)VCD creation...
Hi,
I have a Sony HC19, firewire card and a choice of Sony Picture Package or Nero Reloaded for capture/edit/author/burn software. I have a DVD writer and have 'successfully' created some DVDs. The quality of the video isn't fantastic - not nearly as good as if I play the SonyHC19 directly throught the TV. What should I next be doing to ensure good quality DVD video? I've had a look around on the net and the advice seems conflicting.
I'm planning to look into VHS capture next but I want to be sure that I can capture DV and create DVDs of good quality first or I will then get really confused!
1. Whatever you do, capture through Firewire not USB.
2. Make sure your VBR is smth around 6,000 or even 8,000 for best quality. Also, if you're converting to MPEG-2 repeteadly, or from other formats (such as DivX), quality will degrade significantly.
