Will depend upon your requirements. But you could try

Ulead DVD Moviefactory http://www.ulead.co.uk/dmf/runme.htm
Pinnacle Expression (Bit buggy in my view) or Pinnacle Instant DVD http://www.pinnaclesys.com/ProductPa...31&Langue_ID=2 or
Sonic MyDVD http://www.sonic.com/products/mydvd/default.asp

All of these are budget products. If your requirements are more expansive then let us know and I wil lmake other suggestions

Good Luck

I'm very creative and I'm interested in making proper DVD intro's and menu's.

I'm going to start editing an old football cup final that I played in back in 1988. I'm going to play around with the main film by adding replys and commentary etc etc.

But I also want to send it to a friend of mine as a birthday present. I want to be able to make a animated menu background with soundtrack playing. Is that possible with any general release software?

I noticed the creativity bit from your Websites (very impressive!)

Animated Menus are not available with the products I mentioned in the previous post, although background music is. If you are after animated menus (Buttons or Backgrounds) try,

Ulead DVD Workshop http://www.ulead.co.uk/dws/runme.htm

or

Sonic DVDit http://www.dvdit.com/

Read plenty of Reviews and seek the advice of those who have used the products. I have personally used all the budget products mentioned in the previous post and ULead DVD Workshop (Although not the latest version). I find the Ulead products reasonably good. No doubt other contributors will be able to advise of their experience.

Good luck!

I should also have mentioned that Ulead offer fully functional 30 day trials (No cost whatsoever). Good way of finding out if the products are right for you before forking out your hard earned dosh!
