I've put together this table about formats of video discs. Format, resolution, compression type, quality and other issues are gathered here for easy reference and comparison. Hope it helps people.
- done some changes, at the suggestion of mrlipring. See the second table.

It's wrong. VCD = 80 minutes.
why choose that res for divx? and it's DVDs, not DVD's.
DVD-R won't work on all standalones.

Not much of a difference. Who does VCDs nowadays?

There!
I reviewed it, I hope it's OK now.
I also changed the original attachment, with the new (and hopefully correct) version.

You speak it a lot better than some people whose first language it is, believe me.
Why include VCD if nobody makes 'em? Plenty of people do, because plenty of people don't have hardware that will play anything better. The point still remains that it was incorrect.
Glad to see you've fixed it. One thing though, who's this aimed at? I can only imagine it being of use to newbies, and i'd steer them away from anything that's not a standard, ie X*, K* and miniDVD.

My target were, indeed, the newbies. I hoped that we would get fewer stupid questions about resolution, formats etc.

An honourable attempt, and i'm sure it'll help a lot of people. Trying to help newbies is a slippy road to start down though. 90% of them won't bother looking, they'll just ask the same questions over and over.
It's what made me as bitter and twisted as i am today.
