if you want to view on a DVD player, then ONLY mpeg-1 and mpeg-2 will work.
mpeg-4 (like divx, xvid etc) will only play on very few players. Generally, these codecs are only for viewing on computers.
If you want top quality, it HAS to be mpeg-2 on dvd.
