Default Which is the best, most-compatible dvd brand?

I've used Memorex and they seem to.. well, suck! Maxell is ok and Sony might be better... Any feedback on the subject is appreciated..

Thanks,
KEN

It's not the brand, so much as who made them. There are only a handful of factories actually making dvdr.

Ritek have always been good.

some NEC drives have problems with Ritek brand... mine seems to like Verbatim OK.

If you email the manufacturer of your DVD drive, they'll probably send you a list of recommended media.

any good online retailer specialising in dvdr will also have a chart telling you what's best for each drive. Bear in mind, though, that just because it burns in your drive doesn't mean it'll be compatible with standalones.

What mrlipring said... I use www.svp.co.uk and if you tell them what you're using, they'll recommend something that should be compatible. I've always found them super-responsive and super-helpful - and they're competitive also.

you want a pioneer dvd writer (108?)
Ritek generation 5/6 media (grade A not B)

Ritek is the die used, not a brand.

Currently datasafe use this die but sometimes change to princo which is pants!

Verbatim - have always been a leading manufacturer, but due to higher costs, for no better media, they always fall second if ritek fails.

Ritek dies, not only make ur dvd writer last 3 times as long but also dont stress the laer as much in your stand alones players.

BEST PLACE I COULD SAY IS - www.blankdiscshop.co.uk (svp is the same)

when you go to dvd section it tells you what die is used on the dvd info section.

hope that clears it up a bit
