Default Help Needed Resizing Video to Include Subtitles

Everytime I try to make a DVD of a show I'm backing up for a friend I can't help but get the subtitles at the bottom cut off. I've tried using Roxio Easy CD/DVD Creator and Nero 6. Am I doing something wrong or is it I'm using the programs ?

Video titling s/w usually (well, the one's I've used do anyway) have a facility to display a video titling safe-zone on screen while you're working on your project. Look for this option. It basically amounts to a rectangle drawn in the work area of the video and any titles placed inside will be 'safe'.

I can't find any such option. However, what software do you use ? Is it user-friendly, free , or relatively inexpensive ?

I use Premiere Pro. Hardly the cheapest of options.
