What makes of DVD's do people use here????
I've had a problem deciding which types to buy to burn my movies on. I've just bouight 30 HP DVD+RW and my DVD Player can even read the disk with the movie on it.

I tend to stick to DVD-R's for anything that I want to watch on a stand-alone dvd player,
the brands I've got within arms reach are: Maxell, Datawrite and Verbatim.
All seem to work ok in the two dvd players I've tried them in, the Datawrite Red (V3) ones seem to work in everything including X-boxs and PS2s and they were the cheapest aswell I think.
I've also got some Memorex DVD+RW's which work in some things and not others, and some DVD+R's of various types that are also a bit hit and miss.

I've used Ritek Mirror (G04 dye) discs which came recommended to me, but TBH i'm not that impressed - had errors on a few of them. Shem really, I bought another 25 before I realised this :-/
I've used the verbatim ones as well, which seem reliable enough

I use Ritek's with the G04 dye and have excellent results. The ones I get are not the Bulkpaq ones (which also include the Ritek G04 dye) as I don't quite trust those, but these ones: http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acata...D_R.html#a2185
Do a find on the page for {DV 3167}
I have also used Verbatim's and had very good results too.
Oh, I always use DVD-R's

| Lloyd: I have a question for you and everyone if I may ask. I have been only using DVD-R as well as I was informed that they are universal and that the DVD+R disks only work in certain players as I read somewhere in some magazine over the past year.
I just recently completed those church videos and have been burning them to DVD-R disks with no problems so far but want to make sure.
Could you all enlighten me on this please a little more as I would hate to be duplicating all these disks in error?
Thanks
Mark

Mark | From a physical perspective there is no difference between DVD-R and DVD+R. The difference is the built-in defect management and how they are formatted. DVD-R is a format ratified by the DVD Forum consortium (the original consortium), while DVD+R is a format created by the DVD+RW Alliance. DVD-R's are considered the most compatible with set top DVD players, but to be honest there is very little between them and DVD+R's. There is a big drop in reliability when you move to + or - RW formats (also I think the disks are slightly thicker and heavier).

Thank you Lloyd. Appreciate the input. I can now rest knowing that I am doing something right for a change.
