Default interlacing and compressing

Hi there, great site.

I have a time line with the settings in standard HD, which works for the clips shot on a sony Z1. But i also have footage in progressive from the Canon XM2 as well as super slow mo from a phantom. My problem is finding the right way to export and burn the sequence to DVD. I can see that there are 4 places to make a change;
1. putting an interlace or deinterlace on specific clips that need changing.
2. changing the setting of the timeline and confoming all the cips
3. selecting an interlacing option when exporting
4. selecting an interlacing option in the DVD design menu.

I'm doing lots of trial and error testing and wasting loads of DVD's in the process. Any advice would be great.

Until you get a correct and working workflow together I always always recommend only building DVDs of a couple of minute of footage and use re-writables.

Oh, and for the record, you cannot shoot "standard HD" on a Sony Z1. It's is an HDV camera shooting at 1440x1080i and not standard HD which would be 1920x1080. A nuisance that often costs me a lot of extra time because I tend to have to 'convert' to 1920 to get certain effects working.
