Depending on what you want exactly this may be either very simple or it maybe very difficult and expensive, needing extra s/w.

Needless to say, the idea is toburn the 'movie' onto the disk in a format that your DVD player will recognise it. The easiest way I know of of doing this is the get an MPEG2 video clip and burn it to to a data CD and put it in your DVD player. If I do this the player will show me a directory lkisting of files on the disk and ask me which one to play. Similar to if Iloaded the disk with JPG pictures and wanted to watch them as a slideshow.

However, if you wanted a quality product on DVD with menus etc then you need extra s/w, time and patience to learn how to drive it.

DVDs that you buy contain VOB files (amongst others). These files are essentailly just MPEG2 video files, so your DVD player should know what to do with a standard MPG (mpeg2) files if it;s on the disk. I would be very surprised indeed if it would play AVI files.

Of course you could invest in a DVD authoring package (or download a trial) whihc will happily convert your AVI to MPEG2 and allow you to make a 'proper' DVD.

You mentioned VCD but didn't say that was your ultimate aim. In my humble opinion though, it's a lousy format. I wouldn't aim for anythign less than a proper DVD if I were you. Quality is way way better and 'modern' software is more in tune with authoring DVDs than VCDs.

No offence..But that certainly did not answer my queries.

One more, is there a way I can split a video into 2 discs?
How do I do that.

So...Once again, how do I put a video into a cd-r and watch it on the TV.

Have a nice day.

There's no trying to help some people. Having actually made a few VCDs I've got more I can offer here but I'm out of this one. Any other takers?
