Default How to make look my video like a film?

Hi guys..

I'm a newbie, This is my first post.

When I shoot video using camcoder. I just looks like a video. What effect should be applied to make it look like a real film clip?

For example: Here is a frame from camcoder & a frame from movie. both are after noon shots but there is lot of difference. (don't consider the focus of the camera).

What makes such difference?

Depth of Field is one thing. This is not very easy to do satisfactorily without adding after market lens. Also the quality of the cameras sensor is important, on real film you will notice that the contrast ratio is usually better than a lower priced camera. Like anything you get what you pay for. I have seen instructional videos on YouTube about this subject. In fact there is a sticky in one of these forums about it.

The only thing I could suggest is experimenting with the colour, contrast, brightness etc. during post production, until you get something you like. There is editing software that has some pre-set film look plug-ins. eg the washed out colours that was popular in the 1970's

I am not at all an expert in this field. But hope this answers some of your question

Or you could simply look at the sticky at the top of this very section:

As you will see there are many, many factors. But the fact of the matter is if you want it to look like film, shoot on film.
