Default Camcorder on a budget (mini DV).

Hey all,

I'm trying to find a camcorder for around £300 (though may be able to stretch this a little, or you could reccommend me one for this price and I'll search ebay ).
It's just going to be a begginer type camera, stills won't be needed, though Firewire and a mic input is! Though if possible one that can shoot good in low light conditions

Help is greatly appreciated

You will probably get a few replies here for what is best for your money, personally I'd go for this. It's a 3 chip camera and the picture quality is fantastic, I have one and have never regreted it. Although the ad doesn't mention it, it has firewire.

Good luck

Hey all,

That looks like a great camcorder for the price!(I've just seen it on amazon for £330). But I don't really understand what a 3-chip (3ccd?) is, will it give a better picture in low light? (I'm new to buying)

Mark W: I'll be getting some extra cash in just over a week! So i'll consider getting some extras then, does a 'shot gun mike' attatch to the camera, or do you have to hold it?
And if possible, do you have any links for wide angle lens (these are good for close up's i've heard).

A short shotgun is commonly attatched to camera or hand held or on a boom.

I've been doing a bit of searching and it seems like it's quite hard to find that camera, though i've seen this one (NVGS180B) for around £330~
Does anyone know of any problems with this camera, is it good for the price?
