Default sony trv-19e i.Link problem

Hi there.

I have a sony trv-19e mini dv camcorder, which i use mainly as a dv deck for digitising tapes to my PC (via firewire). I use it most days and it's been working great for 18 months or so but has now suddenly decided to break.

Neither my PC nor my laptop will recognise the camera now and, when it's connected, the words 'DV IN' on the lcd screen of the camera just flicker intermittantly, like it's trying to connect but can't.

It's not the firewire cable, and I haven't changed any software on my PC recently. Any ideas? It seems like it's a problem with the i.Link connection on the camera. If it is, has anyone else had this problem and what did you do about it?

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. David

I don't know that camcorder but you say it has the words DV-In appearing at intervals on the screen? It sounds like you changed some one of the settings as the camera is now expecting you to recording footage back onto tape in the camera rather than take footage from the camera and onto the computer, check the settings in the camera menu and see if you can change the DV-In to DV-Out, it must be contained in the instruction manual aswell.
