virtualdub mod will do this no problem.

get it here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=63653

just open your VOB file, then go to video> compression and select Panasonic Dv codec, (also free from: here) and then file> save as.

you will then have your avi file to import into Premiere.

I just tried it and it works fine, my avi file imported into Premiere with no problems and good quality.

Use vdub to make the vob into an editable dv avi. Try renaming hte file extension of the .vob to .avi or .mpg and import, sometimes works.

Not the expert as my editor eats vobs fine.

you could just rename the vob file to an mpeg file and then import and or convert that to a file you can use. NOt sure what files your system can accept.

Try renaming. VOB's are, essentially, MPEG files. So this should work.

This doesn't work for me in pinnacle. Does anyone know if the afore mentioned method using virtualdub to convert from vob to avi would work with pinnacle? Many thanks.

There is a program called Womble Mpeg video wizard which will edit vobs and mpgs and save them in the same format with no loss of quality (if that's what you're wanting to do?)

I've used it for years and its a fab program.

Default Premiere and vob files

Hi,

I tried changing the Vob. extension to mpg. It works but it is not editable in Premiere pro 7. Then I used Sound forge and converted vob into avi. It was then editable but the sound and video were out of sync badly. Then I tried wift iSofter, a DVD ripper. Converted it into avi. format again. It is editable in Premiere and seems to be fine although there is a slight loss of quality.
