Usually, no. So you'd have to buy a cable anyway.

I have bought two Sony camcorders. The TRV33E did not come wiht a firewire (iLink) lead but did, curiously, come with a USB lead. No wonder people new to video cameras often get frustrated by the quality of video they are capturing.
The FX1E came with neither lead, but then it doesn't have any use for a USB lead.
So to answer you question, no, not even the higher end cameras come with a lead.

But yes, even if it did cost you that much - it's worth it. It really, really, really is.
You NEED firewire.

You do not need to stick with Sony brand for firewire. Firewire is firewire so no need to pay for the name.

It just goes to show that you don't let yourself be intimidated by companies who say you have to use their particular brand of cable or connector or whatever. Shop around and get the best and cheapest deal you can.
