help with transferring to pc

ok i have a Sony DCR-TRV19 (NTSC) and i have a USB cord that fits into my camera, but when i put it in, nothing comes up on my computer. I thought it was supposed to at least make a sound or something but it doesnt. Is there a specific cord i need to buy or a software i can download? someone please help!

have you installed the sony drivers? what os are u running. do you have a vid. capture program?

Connect via Firewire.

If you don't have firewire for your PC, get it.

If you transfer all your footage to PC via USB, you may as well have saved money on your camcorder and bought a webcam

is there a specific firewire cable i need to get or do i need the right one for my camera. And where can i find them at.

find the firewire cable plug on your camera, then find the fire wire plug on your computer. one will be small (camcorder) and your computer may be small or big. now buy a chord that matches them up.
