Default A choice between two Sony camcorders.. any help appreciated!

Hey all,

I've been using a Sony one-megapixel camcorder to produce all my movies up-to-date. I'm about to upgrade the camcorder.. and I chose the Sony DCR-350E. Check HERE

I chose it simply because it's got 3 megapixels, and its close to my budget (1000-1300 euro)

So I sent a friend in Paris to go buy it for me.. and he called back saying the people at the shop told him that it was already out of "fashion" and that the DCR-PC1000E was out. Now I checked that model and found it has only 2.8 megapixels, so normally the 350E is better. However, I didn't understand one of the specs if anyone could explain:

3x CMOS sensors camera system with Enhanced Imaging Processor

What are the CMOS sensors?

So, my final question is... are the sellers idiots or is the 1000 really better than the 350? If so, in what way?

All I'm looking for is MiniDV and high resolution.

Thanks in advance

Megapixels mean nothing in camcorders. The model you refer to would be better because it has 3CCDs (one for each of the three colours).

ah alright... thanks for the info Marc, i'll then ask for the 350E... I didn't know the bit about megapixels meaning nothing... I wanted more megapixels so that, while editing, I could use keyframes to zoom in and not lose quality.

oh and one thing: i couldn't find a way to modify the "Windows Movie Maker" under my username... I don't use that software! lol thanks again

Your "level" will change from Windows Movie Maker the more posts you make...
