Default Panasonic NV-EX1

Hello all,
I recently got ahold of a Panasonic NV-EX1. My brother gave me the camera with a "speed charger" and a firelink. I don't have any of the manuals so I'm playing around with the camcorder so I can learn how to use it properly. Anyway, my real problem lies on the fact that the playback (audio & video) seems to jump every second, as if somebody cut out a millisecond from every second of recording. I tried switching from LP to SP rec modes and the problem persists. I think is only the playback and not the recording because I have videos recorded before this starte happening and they played fine then but now they skip.
I'm new in the camcorder world so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, MFE
