| | Entry Level Music Videos? Hi,
I'm a vocalist who wants to make their own music videos.
I would like to have some reccomendations on which types, brands and models of Video Cams I should consider.
My budget is limited, so I need to look on the low end of the spectrum.
I'm in the US, so I need a US format.
I would be most thankful for any suggestions that anyone might offer.
Thanks,

| | What is your budget?
Generally speaking, the more you pay, the better, so you need to spend as much as you can absolutely afford. Possibly even buy a used one? |

| | For $200, your video is going to look very amateur, so to speak. If this is all you're looking to achieve, then someone may be able to recommend something. I wouldn't even know what to recommend in that price range. |

| | There's no way you'll be able to buy any equipment of any use for $200. Your best best is to find some enthusiasts in your area, join club or whatever, and you'll be able to get it done for next to nothing. There are always guys willing to work for free or a crate of beer, it's a good networking opportunity for all, and something for the showreel. The bonus there is that these guys tend to have their own equipment, or cann borrow it, or you can rent it cheap enough.
Spend as long on the planning as you can. Have meetings, plan shots, discuss everything, arrange your locations etc. You can't plan enough.

| | Hello Everyone,
Thanks to everone for their helpful replies.
I've pretty much taken, "mrlipring's" advice, and am working
currently on my first video with two guys from one of the
local universities. They are doing their final project, a music
video, with me as the star! So, I lucked-out on that one!
I agree with most everyone here, for $200. most of the stuff
is not worth investing in. I'm going to just have to let the pro's
do it for me!
Thanks again for all of your replies. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
