Default JVC cam. How do I remove on screen information on playback

I have just purchased a second-hand JVC GR-SX24 S-VHS-C camcorder to convert my S-VHS-C tapes onto DVD. My previous Panasonic camera broke and I had nothing I could play my S-VHS tapes on. Hence the purchase.
Now for my dilemma - when I play back I get all the on screen informatin on screen and I CAN'T GET RID OF IT. There was no instruction manual with the camera and I've studied and studied the camera for something that will remove the info from the playback screen. Does who is familiar with this camera have any idea how to remove this info?
