Default Sony MiniDV tapes problem??

Hi experts,

I bought a Sony Mini DV HC15E last few months ago and i used it not more than 3 hours but i found that the same problem occured 3 times. When i'm recording half way, the video turns blue screen and multiple lines occured on the screen. Based on the instruction given by Sony's dealer, the video head needs to be cleaned. I have also purchased a video head cleaner and cleaned the head before the second use. But unfortunately, the same problem happenned again. I lost about 30 mins of the video. Does anyone encounter the same problem like me? is it the tape or camcorder problem? Maybe i should change other brand of MiniDV tape? Please advise.

Thanks
JXS

Frankly this should not happen! Sounds to me as though your heads aare misaligned. If its under warranty then get it back to Sony pronto.

Rubbish! I use Sony Excellence all the time in my Canon XM2 and have never suffered a single dropped frame to date.

You personally may have experienced problems but you simply cannot go round making sweeping statements saying all Sony's cause dropped frames.

wow, marc, this guy gets offended alot more easily then the people over at that "other" forums from which i am banned.

sorry didnt realize you'd flip shit over a comment with the word "squirly" in it written by someone still in high school.

but ANYWAYS, my GL2 (XM2, and as well my VX1000 and 2000) used to drop frames all the time when i used sony mini dv's... but im sure my camera is jerked around more when filiming than your camera.

He is of course entitled to his opinion, as I am mine. My comment stands. Statements like that help no one and often result in misinformation.

I'm not sure what the jerkiness is you refer to Gwenny and so can't comment on whether this is an influencing factor or not. I can say that I have used Sony's in my camcorder during Kiteboarding and skiing (when it's thrown in a rucksack on my back with a bullet cam attached to my helmet) with no dropped frames to date.
