Default Sony HandyCam CX-105

Hi,
Just bought a Sony HandyCam high definition camcorder. Been testing it out and am fairly satisfied with the result so far.
The only thing that concerns me a bit is a kind of horizontal blurring/banding/fringing that seems to occur when I am panning across.
I have included a still of a movie clip where this can be seen most clearly. As soon as the camera stops panning the horizontal lines go a way.
Any comments about what this is, or if it is something perfectly normal for this level of camera most welcome.
Thanks in advance!
