Default The Iris Ring

New Question. My Iris ring automatically adjusts up to an F stop of 1.9, however, when i am in manual mode, i can move the iris ring further than the F1.9 marker, it doesn't make the iris open any more, but should it be moving past the marker like that? Is this just a buffer?

I doubt any damage can be done by trying the rings when in auto. I dont think the focus and aperture rings are the real deal on the ex1 - ie they are not directly mechanically connected to lens workings but are insted slaves to the servo motors.

I may be wrong - if they are directly connected then caution is advised - I suppose damage could be done but even then you would need to be rough and ham fisted.

Default My iris ring turns further than F1.9?

I can turn the iris ring past f1.9 though, is that wierd? It doesn't make the iris close any further, and the auto exposure only goes as far as f1.9. Is this the case with all EX cameras?

I've just checked my EX1, it does exactly the same.

Last question about these EX cameras, I have a 4KG load tripod, for my old Sony A1 model camera. tripod base plate is quite small though. I do not want to test it with my EX camera, but what kind of tripod should i be looking at getting if this sort of tripod is not an option? I would normally have put more thought into this, but in the current economic climate, i was able to save myself 4k by buying early due to the surge in prices that have now taken effect

The EX1 can't shoot 1200 frames per second, 60 fps is the maximum.
Where did you get such information ?

Paul.

Hi pkbristol,
I need a big favour from you, i am going to shoot an INDIE short this month and i am quiet new to EX1, i was hoping if you can gide me about shooting with ex1 in a location where there is too much sunlight and temperature is minimum 29degrees.
CAN YOU HELP ME WITH THE SETTING TO ACHIEVE THE BEST LOOK in SUNNY/CLOUDY/NORMAL/NIGHTS.

This is a big favour and i would deeply appreciate it.

Take care
