Repair or Renew

Hi Folks

Our old Sony Handycam CCD-TR713E won't hold a charge. I replaced the battery pack and the lithium batteries but still no joy. Can anyone advise?

If it can't be repaired I'll need to buy a new camcorder. Does anyone have any recommendations. I am really confused with all the different types. It would mainly be used for filming grandchildren, holidays and family occasions. Would also want to make copies of footage.
