Default Playback NTSC tape on PAL/NTSC Cam

Hi All,

Have searched at length but with no conclusive info...Wonder if anyone can advise..

I have a HI8 tape with footage recorded on an NTSC camcorder that I need to capture to my pc.

I only have a very old Canon UC-X50 PAL HI8 camcorder and so I'd like to try and buy a used Digital 8 camcorder in the uk for this purpose. I gather that certain models (Sony?) will output PAL or NTSC signals, but will a PAL camcorder, although with the option to output an NTSC signal, be able to play a HI8 NTSC recorded tape sucessfully?

Does anyone know any models that would do this?

Many thanks to anyone who can help!
