Default Panasonic Nv-md10000

I'm looking to buy my first camera, and I came across the Panasonic NV-MD10000 on eBay.
It looks like a very professional, quality camera, but the price tag on it is £565.
What gives with that? I've checked out the specs, and they look pretty good, but is it just a mediocre camera, packed in an oversize case?
I wasn't sure if this was too ambitious for my first camera, so any suggestions are appriciated.

Thanks
