Bought the JVC HD7 last November.
Good points: - Ease of use, bright LCD screen, fabulous video quality, sylish looks
Bad points: - Built in stereo mics are poor (use a Rode mic instead), still image quality - as good as an average camera phone!, file format - .TOD files have to be converted to .mpeg, image stabilisation system - almost non-existent.
Would I change it? No!
I intended using an external mic, if I want still images I use a stills camera, I use Vegas for editing which can work with the .TOD files, stabilisation issues are usually overcome by use of a decent tripod ... but I am looking for advice on steadicams.
I'd like to give the positives and negatives of the Sony option but I don't know the camera well enough to comment.
Good luck with whichever you buy.
