Hi can anyone recommend a good repair agent for camcorders.

I managed to trip (Don't ask how, I know its a stupid thing to have done) on the firewire cable while it was connected to the camera and pc and have wrecked one of the pins on the camcorder connector.
It now wont connect to pc. Its a panasonic NV-GS120EB, I have googled a couple of places but would prefer a recommendation rather than sending my cam to somewhere I'v never done business with.

Any help would be appreciated

I've had a couple of Sanyo projectors repaired by the Horley branch of DK Audio Visual Services and noted they do camcorders. They charge a fixed rate (£30 or £35 IIRC) for a look/see deducted from the total repair if you go ahead. My experience was prompt turnaround, professional & polite.

I may be too late responding but two years ago my PC developed a fault which pushed volts up the firewire (instead of millivolts). After connecting not one but two camcorders to the firewire I realised that I had just fried the circuits on both camcorders.

I turned to my home insurance (Prudential) explained the problem and they replaced both camcorders, the firewire cable and the firewire card that caused the problem!!

Accidental damage and new-for-old policies are a great thing.

Thanks for the replies guys. The cam is now fixed and working fine. An Audio/Visual shop up my local high street were able to send it off. Cost £125, turned round in less than a week.
Not a mistake I will be making again, I now have a 4.5 metre firewire cable so I can route the cable away from any part of me that would be tempted to trip on it.

Funny thing though got the camera back on a thursday, my wife was travelling the next day and decided to take the camera with her. Got to her destination unpacked her case and promptly dropped the camera onto a tiled floor. Luckily this time it survived with no damage but that would've been my kind of luck!

These things always happen in threes so one more to go
