Default Some very basic advice needed for a complete beginner

I'm struggling to find batteries for my Samsung DV camcorder - found hundreds of suppliers of compatibles but the originals are a bit hard to find. Since my camera was new at Christmas I'm concerned about invalidating the warranty by using unbranded batteries. Is there any real danger of problems using compatible products?

Sorry if this is a very basic question.

I've bought some very good compatible batteries for my Sony's and they've all been fine. I don't think you would have any warraty issues.

Thanks for that.

I did email Samsung and even their supplier uses compatibles - Iwas a bit concerned because they got all finger waggy when I suggested I might default to compatibles if I couldn't find any originals. I can't really see that it's going to make that big a difference myself

Thanks for your advice though
