Default LED Light Panels??

If you may remember, I’m the fellow to cheap to purchase a quality tripod, but I ran into this following clip on YouTube, regarding LED Light Panels available for your camera and was impressed.

YouTube - Sennheiser MKE400 and LP Micro on the Canon HV20 (last half of the video)

As a fellow-on or up (which ever), but not necessarily a recommendation, I Googled for the manufacturer and came up with the following web site:

Litepanels LP-Micro at DVcreators.net

What I’d like to know, understand and learn from the forum is your opinions on this type of technology as it applies to our hobby/profession, because the price seems to be a bit steep, so basically “do the means justify the end”?

(Moderators if I’m in the wrong thread for this posting feel free to move me and no offense will be taken)

I like the look of that, but the link fails to say what the equivalent light ouput is comapred ot a halogen.

The light market is all in a flux as these led lights are appearing (pun intended!).

Mark, I didn’t notice that either, but certainly a good point (a must before buying) to make along with what I like about them:
  1. Even distribution of light
  2. Light weight
  3. Long lasting (never burns out)
  4. What appears to be a lot of light from a small amount of energy
  5. Light will not diminish in strength
I guess I’ve just placed them on my wish list for this coming year!

Thanks Mark for bring your “Power Point” to light (no play on words intended)
