Hello all. I hope somone can help.

I own a Panasonic NV-DS 11 which has been great for the 7 years I've had it. Problem has arisen recently where I get an error symbol when trying to record - the symbol is a cassette with a line through it.

I've looked it up, and it is meant to happen if you have the protection tab in the "save" position or are trying to audio dub on a blank bit of tape. I've checked the tab, swapped the tape, cleaned the heads. All to no avail.

I have nop problems playing back tapes. Everything seems to work ok, with the exception of the ability to record! I just get multiple beeps when I press the record button, as if to say you can't do that!

Very frustrating. Am I missing something obvious? Is this likely to be a hardware fault?

Any help / replies much appreciated.

Are you sure the camcorder hasn't been set to CARD/PHOTO mode or Webcam mode?

Hi Nikosony. Thanks for the reply. I don't think I can set the camcorder to photo mode - it just has a photoshot button - and I have never used it as a webcam - don't even know if you can.

To be honest there are not that many settings to adjust. Hence the reason I am stuck.
